What a beautiful photo of a beautiful lady inside and out. Gill was not only my neighbour, I was lucky enough to call her my friend too. She always had a smile on her face and would light up any room she walked in to. I miss our chats about her wonderful family and her love of life. She will be remembered fondly by us all

We’ve lost a wonderful friend and work colleague. Gill and I first met through the Women’s Institute where we became good friends. We lived near each other and when The Hub on Rye Hill opened its doors we both went and volunteered. We worked during the day in the coffee shop but on the odd occasion we helped out if there was an evening function. We would finish around 9:30 pm and Gill would always say “Let’s go for a nightcap in The Kings Head”. Which of course we did. George would join us On another occasion George joined the Iden Short Mat Bowls group and Gill would come along to watch. One week we were short of players, so Gill was coaxed into giving it a try. Well she picked up a wood , didn’t focus on where it was going and just threw it with two hands down the lane. It reached the jack to everyone’s surprise and this she did on several occasions. Gill was a lovey, well thought of lady and a good friend to many. We miss you. X

The first thing you noticed about Gill was her kind eyes and her warm smile, she had such a caring nature. Not only was Gill a work colleague at Brewers but she was a wonderful friend, she took me under her wing and helped me to settle in and feel at ease. She had a great sense of humour and loved a chat and was as sharp as a tack, One time she said to me "there's a young man that comes in here who quite likes you", unbeknown to me she had also told the young man that i quite liked him too, and here we are 27 years later!! We miss you very much our lovely friend xxxx

I first met Gill through work as long ago as 1979 where we spent 20 years together until I went on to new pastures , we still kept in touch as we still worked for the same company , A very lovely lady who always gave me good advise about life in general , She wasn't only a colleague she was one of my best friends as I spent some lovely lunch dates with herself and George, A very special lady who will be deeply missed, God bless you Gill xx

I was truly privileged to have known Gill, having met her through The Hub on Rye Hill. Not only did Gill do a fantastic job volunteering in the cafe, she was the star member of my Pilates class. Gill loved a chat and I genuinely enjoyed hearing of her holiday travels, family gatherings, new sunglasses and so many more conversations. She brought light, humour, determination and a huge amount of compassion wherever she was. Gill was loved by so many and most importantly, she knew she was surrounded by love from her family. Aunty Gill, it is so sad to say goodbye to you this soon. You are such an integral part of our family and we miss you lots - from hearing you talk about everything that's going on in Rye, to your latest favourite book, to giving me guidance and support as I grew up and went through different education and career choices. It’s a shame that my grandchildren will never get to know their great auntie Gill, so I will have to tell them that she had the biggest caring heart , a warm loving smile, and empathy for everyone. Gill as my elder sister i have known you all my life, losing you too early is painful. Your constant support to me and my family throughout this time has enabled us to achieve much. You have also helped many others in the same way to achieve more. As a role model you have shown great dignity and independence throughout your life. We will miss you greatly.
